Cast and Crew
Boudeeka
Boudeeka’s first Rock band "The Pink Section" was
Santa Rosa’s premier
club band. Gigging 3 to 4 nights a
week she quickly built her reputation as a powerful vocalist with high energy
stage presence. In 1989 she became lead singer for Heavy Metal band
"Ariah", debuting in San
Francisco at The Stone. "Ariah"
played venues thru out the Bay Area, opening for Quiet Riot, Dora Peche, King
Diamond & Vicious Rumors. Boudeeka currently fronts San
Francisco rock band Ohm Powah. She also sings
in the Unauthorized Rolling Stones, The Allstars and Boudeeka. Boudeeka
has shared the stage with Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen & the E
Street Band, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Johhny Gunn of Eddy
Money, Dale Ockerman of The Doobie Bros., Deacon Jones of John Lee Hooker,
Puro Bandito and Filmore Slim. She has opened for Norton Buffalo, Elvin
Bishop, Bud E. Luv, Merl Saunders & The Rainforest Band and The Russell
Bros. She is SOL's Janis Joplin and to say that she has completely and
totally nailed the part is to completely and totally understate the point.
CCarleton "Dirk Poward"
Born
in San Francisco Dirk (Carleton) a skilled songwriter, arranger and composer
has worked with a wide varity of bands, musicians, producers, and artists on
stages and in studios. Performing styles ranging from Rock N’ Roll, R&B,
Soul, Blues, Reggae to Latin. His roots and heart are deeply seeded in
classic R&B, Rock N’ Roll and Metal. From this combination his own style
was born and is still rising. He is now a permanent fixture in the band Ohm
Powah that he formed with his partner Boudeeka (lead vocalist). His goals are
to go as far as possible with total conviction, intensity, endeavor and endurance
with an open mind and arms with band mates and the rest of the world. His
motto and ethics are: Play hard, work hard, love good, live Good. Dirk is
Hi-Energy, Hi-Octane and very very focused on life. Carleton is SOL's Jimi
Hendrix and to experience Carleton is to experience Jimi himself.
David Lockhart
David Lockhart is a SAG actor with extensive work
experience in television, theater, film and print; a principle role in a
national commercial (Fast Tinactin), currently in circulation; and his latest
film, Impression is showing at the Orinda Film Festival. Good with animals,
Can drive a stick shift, Life guarding, Rugby, Football, Baseball, Track,
Volleyball, Kick Boxing, Weight training, Camping, Fly fishing, Bungee
jumping, Skydiving, Water Skiing and Rollerblading. He expresses himself
musically in Stereo Blasters and has emerged as a major force in SOL as Jim
Morrison of the Doors.
Marc Matters
An east coast native and metal head at heart,
Marc got his first bass guitar as a Christmas present in 1994 and started his
first band a few months later. For the next ten years, Marc was an active
musician in the Pennsylvania punk rock
and hardcore scene. His most accomplished role (keep in mind that success is
a rather vague and relative term) was that of primary songwriter and front
man for a nationally touring metal/punk band, Tracer, who dissolved in 2004.
When he’s not rocking Noel Redding’s afro at SFSOL shows, Marc is a graphic
design major at Chabot
College and an
artist for Trader Joe’s. Most impressively, however, he’s married to SFSOL
director Andrew’s lovely daughter, Natalie. You generally find Marc showing
up to gigs late and leaving early due to his wicked schedule, although he
never misses a chance to take advantage of free beer and pizza.
Bluesman Russ
Russell’s guitar playing has been described as
“fluid”, “bluesy”, and “authentic”. A veteran of the LA music scene for 7
years, Russell is happy to be back in his native Northern
California. As a student at UCLA, he sang in the acclaimed UCLA Chorale
(where he worked under conducting legend Donald Neuen), and the UCLA Opera.
His main project in LA was the original band The Mudflaps”, for which he was
co-founder, co-writer, and lead guitarist. Russell has played and sang in
some of the country’s most famous and popular venues, including Carnegie
Hall, Royce Hall, the Whisky A Go-Go, Club Lingerie, the Galaxy Theatre,
Martini Blues, 14 Below, and BB King’s at Universal Studios, where the
Mudflaps premiered their album to a full house. He has shared the stage with
groups such as The Blasters, Sticky Fingers Hollywood (now called the
Hollywood Stones), Led Zepagain, and Blues Adjacent. Catch Russell's playing
for SF Summer of Love in Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, and the Electric
Bob Dylan Band!
CRandy McKellar
Randy
is the psyche behind the delic for the light show that makes the SF Summer of
Love Show. Randy is an accomplished musician with many years of club playing
under his belt and takes that experience into play when he coordinates the
light ambience with the music. Between his computer hardware skills, his
musical talent, his balance between practical and imaginative, and his ability
to "just get things done". Randy makes the show. It would not be
SOL without the visual smorgasbord he presents. Randy is also one of the
Producers of the show.
CCarol Dutra
Carol
Dutra is taking on the role of PR, Accounting, and other business aspects of
the project. Her picture will be updated soon. I promise. After a brief
interview it was revealed .....
Carol's love of music began during the "Summer of Love". She's a
Bay Area native who as young girl loved to sit in front of the record player
and listen to her mom's records, which included Cheap Thrills amongst others.
Her first album was Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane. Carol
continued her music connection as a young woman as she worked at Spitzer's, a
music store local to the SF Bay Area. Carol's participation with the show
appears to be in sync with how she was musically raised and how she relates
and feels about music. So......Go Carol Go!
Heather Schifano
Native born
California dreamer,
Heather Schifano is a young woman with music and flower-power on her heart
and mind. With her soft and true voice and demure smile she is indeed a
natural to portray the lovely Michelle Phillips in the San Francisco Summer
of Love Revue. Although her talents as a vocalist are fairly recently
realized, Heather is an aspiring gutarist and life-long student of music.
She showed an interest in music very early in life and her gifts began to
show almost immediately. Her proud father often regales listeners with
stories of her talent. He recalls that at the age of two years old, on
demand, Heather would sing a perfect “E” to which he could tune his guitar.
Some have referred to her as a “woman born out of time,” as she is far more
interested in the fashions and events of the 1960’s. However, she poignantly
reflects on how things really haven’t changed much. Friends still go to war
and bell bottoms come in and out fashion, but you can still dance for free in
Golden Gate
Park. If you
squint your eyes as she passes by, and you may just see smiling psychedelic
specters with flowers in their hair following her.
CBaron Olah (aka Hippie Dude)
Baron
is a popular veteran of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. In addition
to fronting many cover bands, as well as his own original-format band Von
Baron, he has shared the stage with many professional acts including Foghat,
The Tubes, Dave Meneketi of Y&T and Montrose. On stage, Baron is the
ultimate showman; many fondly remember him playing the role of David Lee Roth
in the celebrated Van Halen tribute band, the original Atomic Punks. Baron's
captivating vocals entertaining style, coupled with his stage experience and
ability to command an audience, has led him to his most recent role of Hippie
Dude, the San Francisco Summer of Love Revue's Master of Ceremonies. Baron
also lends a hand playing the part of John Kay with Steppenwolf. Baron
reports being very happy and satisfied with his new role. "It's quite a
unique opportunity to be living out such an important part of Rock & Roll
history, where it was originally lived . . . on the stage."
Andrew Larson
Andrew Larson is an
East
Bay resident who
started his musical odyssey taking lessons on keyboard at age 15. At age 16
he picked up the guitar and later studied music theory, jazz theory and
improvisation at Diablo
Valley
College where he
appeared in various performances in jazz ensembles. After college, Larson was
in a sort of holding pattern for a couple years until he ran into Andrew
Hernandez and joined SFSOL as John Phillips in the Mamas and Papas tribute
band. Since then he has joined the The Doors tribute as Robbie Krieger, as
well as Sam Andrew in our Big Brother and the Holding Company tribute. In
addition to SFSOL, Larson is in two original projects: OneStepFast with our
very own Patrick Maloney, and in Lord of the Skies with another
guitarist/singer from Marin
County. In addition
to guitar, Larson sings, plays bass, and plays keyboards.
Nick
Known for now simply as Nick, this SOL player
represents the hard edge guitar in Steppenwolf and in SOL's alpha band ...
"Shred Zeppelin". Not a lot of detail as of yet as this is an
unauthorized Bio but Nick is an experienced player beyond his years drawing
on his touring background and his music lifestyle. His side project myspace.com/HelliciousRock . More info to
come as tidbits trickle in. One piece of trivia is that he used to rule a
pool.
Lawman

Another
unauthorized Bio and a singular name, Lawson. Lawson is the bass in
Steppenwolf and in SOL's alpha band (2 mentions now) ... "Shred Zeppelin". And
once again not a lot of detail about this player yet but like Nick, he is an
experienced player beyond his years drawing on his touring background and his
music lifestyle. He plays with Nick in
myspace.com/helliciousrock. More info to come as tidbits trickle
in. One piece of trivia is that he used to rule a pool.
Jamey
Yet another unauthorized Bio and yet another singular
name, Jamey. Jamey is the drummer/pounder in Shred Zepplin. You have to see
this guy play. He has a great blend of precision and power. His words from
his myspace account reveal....

Stoner Dude
Stoner plays Keith Moon and
other drummers for SOL. In a quick interview Stoner relayed the
following.....
He has two other major music projects that keep him drumming. Bong and Raider
Hed. By the way, if you ever want to see a fun show, go to Rickey's in
San Leandro on a Saturday night
before a Raider game and check these guys out. Do not and I repeat do not
wear a 49er jersey. Stoner is an interesting guy. In correspondence with and
an activist for Tommy Chong. Mentioned on the Howard Stern show and has
gotten as far as the infamous green room. Runs an internet radio talk show
called RaiderfanRadio.com. An artist of high quality who has produced work
for Pantera. Check out his web site at Knumbskullrecords.com.
Man! So....why and how does this Renaissance Punk hook up with the SF SOL?
Well...He just wants to bang on his drum all day. And he does so with the
same high energy he lends to all his other projects. A real interesting guy.

Jeff Weinstein
A
native of Berkeley, California Jeff Weinstein has been a professional musician
for nearly fifteen years. After studying guitar with former Testament founder
Alex Skolnick, Jeff relocated to Los Angeles to study music at the University
of Southern California where he earned a degree in performance in 2002. After
graduation, Jeff returned to the Bay Area where he quickly became one of the
most sought after session guitarists opening for such as Slash, Joe Satriani,
and Scott Weiland. After touring Europe with the funk-rock outfit Deciduous,
Jeff commended to work in earnest with esteemed voice coach and Seth Riggs
disciple, John Scott. Currently Jeff is studying at the Jeanette Smith vocal
studio and can be spotted throughout California fronting the hard rock cover
band Top Dead Center. Jeff also plays with former Tony! Toni! Tone! musical
director Tasche and Bay Area favorites the Shillz. Jeff is also active as a
songwriter and an educator.

Lisa Burke
Lisa is a native San Franciscan born
into a musical family spanning three generations of entertainment. She debuted
professionally playing in a three girl contemporary dance band where she
shared the stage with famed musicians Johnny Lee Hooker and Van Morrison in
1998. She then went on to form her first original band, Bombshell. As a singer
and songwriter, Lisa still performs her originals locally with her current
band, Luvhed. Additionally Lisa is the drummer for an all girls tribute to the
Ramones ... "The Hormones". Lisa is bringing her soulful voice to SOL's Mamas
and Papas as Mama Cass.
Fred Vierra
Hi my name is Fred and I am the resident keyboard player for SOL.
What an opportunity this show has been. I have been in lots of bands
and have played lots of gigs but the theme that SOL provides is unique. SOL
offers the chance to focus and also expand on creativity. My job is to
provide the "big old school" sound that is characteristic of that
time period's keyboards. I have the privilege of playing boards in the Big
Brother and the Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane, the Mamas and the Papas,
Steppenwolf, and the Doors SOL acts. It has been a challenge and a
labor of love to try to emulate the great rock players especially the god Ray
Manzarek. A blip of a background is that I have played for several
decades with the two longest tenured bands being Lines and Teton Brown. I had
the good fun to win the
Hayward "Battle of the Bands"
awhile ago. I am heavy into software development and to those interested, I
try to get the Hammond B3 sound with my beloved Korg CX3 and for the rest of
the worldly sounds such as the flute in "California Dreaming", I
use the infinitely programmable Roland Fantom XR.
